A reliable avalanche beacon is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can take into the back country. Whether you're skiing, hiking, snowmobiling or snowshoeing, make the Pieps DSP avalanche beacon part of your adventure. Digital technology in the DSP allows for quick, precise pinpointing of the strongest signal among multiple burials, and the triple antenna increases reliable detection range out to 196 feet (60 meters), with direction indication starting at 50 meters. The Pieps DSP is a small beacon and has one of the longest ranges of the digitals. It allows you to lock out another transceiver during a multiple burial. Its third antenna is excellent at dealing with spikes during deeper burials, handles frequency drift well, and it can be upgraded via the earphone jack. If you really want to find someone fast with no confusion, this is the beacon. It's very simple to use and takes up as much space as a two-way radio. Sure, you can find cheaper beacons but when someone's life is on the line, you can't put a price tag on it.
